Larger homes, primary bathrooms and long main floors, about twenty minutes from Wilmington.
Hockessin is about twenty minutes northwest of Wilmington, out Lancaster Pike and Route 41 toward the Pennsylvania line. The houses are mostly larger single-family homes on bigger lots, many built from the 1970s through the 2000s, alongside older farmhouses out toward Yorklyn.
That brings bigger rooms and higher expectations. Primary bathrooms here are often the whole job: a tub nobody uses coming out for a walk-in tiled shower, with the pan sloped and the waterproofing prep done before any tile is set, a bench or niche built in, and a floor laid in marble, porcelain or mosaic to a layout planned around the vanity and the door.
Kitchens and main floors tend to run long, which is where hardwood or luxury vinyl plank has to be laid to run with the room rather than against it, and where a backsplash is long enough that a pattern drifting a few millimetres shows by the far end. Finished basements come up too, usually in luxury vinyl plank, which copes with the moisture a Delaware basement will throw at it. The drive out is short, so a look at the room before the quote is no trouble. Call or text with the room and roughly the square footage, and photos help more than anything.
Floor and wall tile, mosaic, marble and pattern work, set to a layout that is planned before anything is stuck down.
02Hardwood, luxury vinyl plank and laminate through living space, laid to run with the room rather than against it.
03The tile and floor side of a bathroom remodel, from tear-out and waterproofing prep to fixtures set back onto finished tile.
04The new kitchen floor and the backsplash, planned around the cabinets and counters so the room reads as one piece.
05Shower walls, floors, pans and niches, with the waterproofing prep done before any tile is set over it.
06Backsplashes and kitchen floors, cut around outlets and cabinet runs so the pattern still reads as one piece.
07Subfloor flattening, old flooring removal and tile repairs, which is where most failed floors actually went wrong.
Tile is not a trade you can rush or hand off halfway. The person who measures your floor is the person who sets it.
Substrate checked flat and sound first, because tile telegraphs every dip and every soft spot beneath it.
Where the full tiles land and where the cuts fall is decided before anything is stuck down.
Set to a line, spaced consistently, then grouted and trimmed so the edges are finished rather than filled.
Where a job crosses into licensed plumbing or electrical, you are told plainly, not sold it.
